The materials they use are either issued from overproduction, cutting waste from perfectly new productions or regarded as end-of-life. In their social workshop, Ragnarøk turns them into handmade pieces that show their bold approach towards the fashion industry.

About Ragnarok Clothing

Yann, then a student in Zwolle, was studying sustainability when his frustration with the rise of fast-fashion turned into a purpose. He believed the industry needed a counter-force, a positive alternative built on higher standards. The atelier began with a simple principle: to take matters into its own hands. Now it has grown into a team of around 6 people dedicating themselves to show that both environmental and social impact can be a strong asset as a fashion brand.

About the waste

At Ragnarok, they use two waste streams. First: end-of-life tarps and banners, a durable material they rescue and transform into unique bags and accessories. Second: their own surplus fabric. In garment production, a 10-15% over-order is standard, often leaving rolls of perfect material unused. Ragnarok refuses to waste it.

About the process

All processes start locally within their atelier in Zwolle. This space is more than a workshop, it’s but a place where hands-on opportunities are created for craftsmen to grow, refine their craft, and become experts in their own right, including community and craftsmanship into every piece they rescue. They work on professional development for those who require more opportunities to enter the labour market. Their products not only carry materialistic sustainability, but also social impact.

About their creations

Ragnarok makes bags and laptop sleeves from tarp and banners creating a robust product that uses the features of the old purpose of the material to its advantage. From the deadstock fabric they make T-shirts and hoodies that are of a higher weight class. They’re modern, durable and comfortable. Ragnarok serves everyday consumers who seek for impact with their everyday clothing, while also providing for crew wear and corporate gifts for businesses.

A story like David versus Goliath

The name was chosen with intent. It comes from Norse mythology, where Ragnarok is not just an end, but a necessary reset: the fall of the old gods to make way for the era of humankind. It is the great making way for the small. This is the ambition of Ragnarok Clothing. They see their role in renewal and believe the age fast-fashion giants should give way to something more human: to small, local ateliers where quality is created over quantity, and garments are made with care.
