Ragnarøk

Turning deadstock into fashion

Ragnarøk transforms textile deadstock and other leftover materials into T-shirts, hoodies, bags, and everyday gear. They work with fabric that already exists, from overproduction, cutting waste, or end-of-life materials, and turn it into small-batch clothing and accessories with a story.

About Ragnarøk

Ragnarøk started in 2019 when Yann, then a sustainability student in Zwolle, got tired of watching fast fashion dominate the industry. Instead of just talking about it, he started making clothes differently. What began as a student project grew into a small team of around six people working from a social workshop in Zwolle. Fun fact: Ragnarøk was the very first company that hired Sam as a freelance photographer for change makers. In a way, this whole Waste Alchemists journey traces back to that first shoot.

About the waste

Ragnarøk mainly works with textile waste. Deadstock fabrics from overproduction. Cutting waste from perfectly new productions. Rolls of fabric that never made it into a final collection. In conventional garment manufacturing, around 10 to 15 percent of fabric goes unused. Often it gets destroyed simply because it does not fit the production plan anymore. On top of textiles, Ragnarøk also rescues tarps, banners, tent fabric, and boat sails. Materials that are strong, technical, and often too good to be thrown away.

About the process

Everything starts in their social workshop in Zwolle. Materials are sourced locally when possible, inspected, cleaned, and then reworked by hand. Patterns are adjusted to the available fabric, not the other way around. Small batches. No overproduction. The workshop also creates opportunities for people who need extra support entering the labour market. Circular craftsmanship and social inclusion are part of the same daily routine, not separate programs.

About their creations

From deadstock and leftover textiles, they create T-shirts and hoodies that are sturdy, modern, and made in small batches. From tarp, banners, and technical fabrics, Ragnarøk makes robust bags, laptop sleeves, and accessories that embrace the durability of the original material. They also develop crew wear and circular services for businesses, proving that textile waste can work in both everyday wardrobes and professional settings.

A story like David versus Goliath

The name Ragnarøk comes from Norse mythology. It marks the end of an era and the beginning of something new. For Ragnarøk, it is less about destruction and more about reset. Not tearing down fashion, but quietly building a local, human-scale alternative where quality and care replace speed and overproduction.
