Make your own belt from bike tires

In this hands-on workshop, you turn an old bicycle tire into a belt you will love. You work with reclaimed materials, learn about waste transformation along the way, and leave with a durable, one-of-a-kind belt.

Workshop description

This workshop starts with something most of us barely notice anymore: a worn-out bicycle tire. At Vuigmakers, these tires are not the end of the line, but the beginning of a new story.

You choose from a collection of cleaned, discarded bike tires, each with its own tread, texture, and colour. From there, you design and make your own belt, guided step by step through the process. The material leads the way. A bold profile, a subtle pattern, a hint of colour from its previous life. Every choice is shaped by what the tire already brings with it.

Waste transformation is experienced directly here. You are not talking about reuse, you are working with it. By the end of the workshop, you walk away wearing a belt that carries the marks of where it came from and the time you spent making it.
