How long?

That’s entirely up to you. Even a mini-clean-up of 10 minutes or picking up just three bits of litter makes a difference.

What do you need?

A positive attitude goes a long way! If you’d like a handy litter picker, you can request one along with special Utrecht Schone Stad bin bags by sending an email to samenschoon@utrecht.nl. But a pair of gardening gloves will do the trick too. It would be great if you could use the WePlog app. You can download it here for Android and iPhone. The app isn’t compulsory, by the way. A special group has been created in the app (Utrecht Plandelt!) which you can join.

Wear something green

There’s no official dress code, but if you’ve got something green in your wardrobe: do wear it! If you don’t have anything green at all, perhaps you’d like one of those special P-shirts? Read on to find out how you can get your hands on one!

Merchandise

The original, exclusive P-Shirt. Made for the real tidying heroes. Not for sale anywhere, only to be earned. If you can round up fifteen people (men, women, kids) to get to work together, you’ve earned one. In that case, please send a separate email to info@plandelen.nl with your plan and the group size. Available sizes (while stocks last): 9–11 years, S, M, L, XL and XXL.

Tuesday 2 June
19:00 Official opening of the Plandelmuseum and presentation by Wanda de Kanter and Merijn ‘Plastic Soup Surfer’ Tinga, including his documentary Against the Current. Theatre hall, Neude Library. Free tickets here.

Wednesday 3 June
11:00: Welcome to Utrecht’s most colourful garden: the graffiti garden in Lombok. After the Plandel session, you can get creative yourself using recycled or found materials. More info here.

Thursday 4 June
9:00–12:00 The Utrecht Plandel Competition, Green Business Club
16:00 MacAttack with the Zwerfinator
19:30 Inspiration evening for Plastic Avengers & green activists and climate warriors. The most entertaining litter activists, the best figureheads, the weirdest litter pickers and the strangest finds at Neude Library. With Dirk “Zwerfinator” Groot and other (green) activists.

Friday 5 June

11:00 Out and about with the Plandel Police. Musketon, Lunetten

13:00 Zero Waste Plandel Tour with the expertise of guide Marieke Ettema and the Plandelman grabbers, visiting the best packaging-free shops in Utrecht city centre. As a gift, you’ll receive a handy DIY guide for cleaning your home. Free, but registration required.

14:00 Ditch Day: long live aquatic life & down with the plastic soup, Koppelsteede City Farm

17:00 Clean Ship, Domplein with Plandel Dialogues and from 17:45 a walk around the Dom

Saturday 6 June

11:30 Heart of Kanaleneiland x Plandel Week: clean-up walk with lunch, registration required. Clean-up materials provided! Marshalllaan 14-18

13:00 Thumbs up for The Big Group Photo – the official group portrait of the 2nd Utrecht Plandel Week. Come and pick up a P-shirt or dig out something green from your wardrobe. Heart of Kanaleneiland, Marshalllaan 14-18.

14:00 PLANDELMAN HANDING OUT PRIZES. Hand in your Plandel bingo card and you’re guaranteed a prize. Bring along your extra-special ‘item of your choice’ for the Plandel Museum and who knows, you might just score an exclusive P-shirt or the one and only Plandel gloves. Sunday 7 June
10:30 Wild foraging walk with nature guide Esther de Groot. In search of the tastiest plants (and the things that do NOT belong in nature). The walk includes a foraged snack and a drink + an online handout
11:45 Plant sharing with the Jacobikerk, until 13:00, followed by brunch.
